#gothere 12: explore the experiments of donaufestival

I find myself to get tickets to donaufestival for the 7th time. I attended school in Krems when finally something really fantastic hit the town: the idea of donaufestival was born. Unfortunately I was too young to attend the first 4 festival seasons but eventually when Peaches and Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls) found their way to Krems, I was right there at Halle 1, next to Stadtpark Krems. Two weekends from now will be full of experiments of musicians, artists, performances, gigs and interactions! You will be amazed!

Let the games beginn...

This year's festival themed "Undefined Arts" deals with rebuilding the world in a redefined, new and very inspiring way. Thomas Zierhofer-Kin, director and connector leads the visitors through a variety of possibilities of a rebuilt world and offers different point of views. I suggest to take a glance at the program and join in for some awesome and extraordinary shows. My 3 recommendations for the first weekend, starting Friday, April 24 :)

 Friday, April 24: Ben Frost A U R O R A W / MFO

Born in Australia, living in Iceland, Ben Frost presents his new album "A U R O R A" together with visual artist Marcel Weber at donaufestival. His former albums, including Steel Wound (2003), Theory of Machines (2007) and BY THE THROAT (2009) combine minimalistic sounds with intensely structured sound art and electronic music, focused on fierce and melody. Collaborating with other artists and musicians, like Brian Eno since 2010 (Rolex Mentor and Protegé program) reveals new albums, new directions and new sounds. Experience Ben Frost at Stadtsaal, 11.30 p.m.

Saturday, April 25: Claudia Bosse / theatercombinat a first step to IDEAL PARADISE

Director Claudia Bosse opens in the installation and performance "a first step to IDEAL PARADISE" possibilities to interact with viewers, with citizens of our world. She wants to offer a new world order to rethink rituals and political instincts. There is no stage because all of us will be on stage, interacting with the sculptures and objects built into the room. Experience Claudia Bosse and theatercombinat at Atelier Kunstmeile Krems, 7 p.m.

Sunday, April 26: Xylouris White

George Xylouris and Jim White fuse traditional Greek instrumentals with Postrock drums and offer new interpretations of Klezmer, Folk and Blugrass sounds! Experience Xylouris White at Stadtsaal, 8 p.m.
